Happy Bank Holiday

Today is the last day before the real reason I came to London begins...to work. I am no longer working with Mediaedge:CIA. I felt it was too large of a company and would not give me the individual attention that I thought I deserved. So I will be working with a company called Brand Links. It is much smaller. It was founded by three men. They all work there along with four employees making the entire company staff only seven people. I am pretty anxious. I hope I like the people and I hope they like me. If not, it could be a long seven weeks.
When I went to meet with the new company my interview was at 10:30am. I left around 9:30 to make sure I made it in time. Looking at the map it looked like it should only take around 30 minutes. Needless to say it took 2 hours. Yes I was late. Yes I fell...twisting my ankle and stubbing my foot. Yes it was raining. Yes I was sweating by the time I made it there. And yes....it turns out it was only a 20 minute bus ride. LOL. Oh well...it is all about the adventure, right?

The past several nights we went to some nightclubs and pubs. I found a bottle of campaign for only 1 pound and 32 pence, so I will be drinking that probably every night before we go out. Considering most have cover charges of around 10pounds to get in and a shot of vodka is about 3-5pounds. Pregame will be the only choice we have.
I love british accents. Especially on cute british boys...which there are a lot of.
I love british chocolate. SOOOOO GOOOOD. Even if I don't like the other food, I will enjoy the sweets.
Since there are no preservatives in any of the food it spoils so fast. I bought a loaf of bread several days ago. I only had three sandwiches and today it was moldy. I am going to either eat faster of freeze it.
Apparently there is this magical place called Asda that is close to a Wal-Mart. We are adventuring there to find it soon.
I know it has only been a week since we have been here and my mood could change drastically as time goes on, but I am enjoying it. Once work starts the "honeymoon" stage of our trip should be over and we will begin to see into the heart of the culture. That will be interesting. It is crazy though how much we have learned in the past week. Not only about London but about ourselves.
Well I hope you all are having a great time back in America. I am extremely jealous of the weather you have been having. 80 degrees sounds fantastic. I think I get that when I take a shower...haha.
Love,
Alissa

Of course...

So I just spent a while writing one of these blogs on my computer, but it won't let me post it. So I’m at the library and I’m not about to rewrite everything...so this might be shorter...sorry. Just read Jason's. He does a much better job keeping it updated.

All I have to say is that I am the master of London...lol. Atleast Team Flamingo is. WE WON the scavenger hunt!!! LOL....for quite a price though. It started at noon and ended at 6pm. My team was very determined to win which means that we walked at a more than steady pace most of the time. You can generally walk a mile in about 15 minutes....so just do the math and you can figure out how much I walked. Needless to say I’m still tired today.
And I’m sick. And I haven't slept for more than 3hours in a row. Except last night...but I took sleeping pills and I walked all day. But I only got 5 1/2 hours of sleep because I had my interview at 9 and didn't want to be late.
But other than that London is great. I bought my tube pass yesterday (320 dollars later). It is great. It is free access to all the tubes and busses.
I thought I was going to starve...but the food really isn't that bad. If I starve it is because I can't afford to eat! hahah. I also realized people in Europe aren't skinny because of the food, they are skinny because you walk everywhere.

The weather has been stereotypical of London. Rainy, windy and cold. Yesterday was beautiful though. Sunny for the most part. It can rain one minute and be completely sunny the next. You never know. You just leave to always bring an umbrella because you will use it at some point during the day.
So Brandi informed me yesterday that we were approved for our apartment. Yay...I won't be homeless come August. That is a load off my back. Now....to find a job to pay for the apartment....haha.

Anyways, I hope all is well with everyone. My computer really doesn't work at all with the internet service. I am at the library right now and they limit you to 60 minutes a day and only 300 minutes a week...odd. Anyways, now that I have a membership I will come here much more often so hopefully I can update more. Plus, no one wants to go to the library so I know I can always come here to be alone!! haha.
Thanks for all your support and love.
Sincerely,
Alissa

Greetings...

Greetings from London. This will be brief for I do not have much time. The flights were great. Tiring, but relatively easy. The train trip from the airport to the city was much easier than expected too. My roommate and I are stuck in a small room, probably no larger than an 6-7x11. Luckily, she is from Kent State...making things much easier. So...I was clever enough to ask the cab driver why some license plates were yellow and some were white...but not clever enough to realize the white was the front and the yellow was the back. I thought that was funny. Anyways, if I want to be clean for dinner I must go. I will be back as soon as possible to update. Thanks to everyone who has supported me to take this trip. I hope it is an experience of a life time. With much love, Alissa
